Norman High Boys Golf Opens Fall Season with Strong Showing at Fall Preview West
Tigers host Class 6A competition at Earlywine Golf Course as Garner earns top-10 finish and Beeson fires second-round 67.
NORMAN, Okla. — Norman High School boys golf opened its fall season September 22, hosting the Fall Preview West at Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City. The Tigers fielded three teams in the 36-hole event, welcoming some of Oklahoma's top Class 6A programs for an early-season test of talent and depth.

Junior Hayden Garner led the Tigers, finishing tied for seventh overall with a 36-hole total of 141 (+1). Garner opened with a 71 before carding an even-par 70 in the second round, securing a top-10 finish against a competitive field featuring Broken Arrow, Edmond North, Bixby, Stillwater and other Class 6A contenders.
Sophomore Owen Malone also delivered a strong season debut, finishing tied for 12th with a 145 (+5). Malone posted rounds of 73 and 72, giving Norman a second finisher among the tournament's top 15.
One of the day's most impressive performances came from junior Maverick Beeson, who delivered a remarkable second-round turnaround. After opening with an 80, Beeson responded with a three-under-par 67, one of the lowest rounds recorded in the tournament. His 13-stroke improvement propelled him into a tie for 18th overall at 147 (+7).
The Tigers also saw promising performances throughout their lineup. Freshman Charlie McClure posted rounds of 75 and 74 to finish tied for 22nd at 149 (+9). Senior Keagan Hager matched that total, closing with a two-over-par 72, while sophomore Gus Everett joined them at 149 after improving seven strokes between rounds with a second-round 71.
Beyond the individual highlights, hosting the Fall Preview West provided Norman an opportunity to bring together many of the state's top programs while giving its own roster valuable competitive experience. With three teams in the field, the Tigers showcased the depth of their program and gained an early benchmark against Class 6A competition.
The season opener produced plenty of positives for Norman, including a top-10 finish, multiple top-25 performances and several impressive second-round scores.
With the first tournament in the books, the Tigers look to carry that momentum forward as they continue building toward the spring championship season.
